The Latest Local News from the Rome News

The Word on the Street column includes details of an employer summit designed to help owners and managers stay up to date on labor compliance and revenue reporting laws.

That event is set for May 20 at Georgia Highlands College in Rome.

The WOTS column also has information about plans for a new health and fitness center in Lindale and the impending closure of Pak Mail, the small parcel-shipping center that has operated out of a location at 2204 Shorter Ave., the Big Lots shopping center.

Roofing work and upgrades to cell phone towers at several sites around Rome and Floyd County dominated the building permits that were issued by the Rome Floyd Building Inspection office during the past week.

The complete list of building permits is among the special highlights of Roman Record every Monday.
