Residents of Lindale will notice construction activity soon at the old Family Dollar store in the Piggly Wiggly shopping center at 3140 Maple Road.
Randy Gentry is bringing Lindale Health and Fitness to the old Family Dollar site as he works to beef up the small strip center. Gentry bought the Lindale Piggly Wiggly from longtime owner Spence Millican in July of 2014.
This will be Gentry’s first health and fitness business; however, he does know other Piggly Wiggly operators that have done something similar in empty building’s adjacent to their grocery stores. “I need to get something in that building and I’m just trying to develop the shopping center and help bring some business to the area,” Gentry said.
“I’m going to have tanning beds and also a women’s fitness area for women only,” Gentry said. “It’s also going to have an aerobics and Zumba studio.” Gentry said that he’s planning to have four tanning beds in the center.
“We’ll have a full line of workout equipment,” Gentry said.
His contractors have told him that once the final permits are issued that it should not take long to complete the renovations. He is hoping to be open sometime in July or August.
