Lacrosse: Berry men fall in overtime

Seth Gray scored with 2:40 left in the first overtime period as Centre College men’s lacrosse team defeated Berry College, 13-12, on Saturday.


Berry moved to 4-4 and 0-1 in the Southern Athletic Association. Centre improved to 3-1 and 1-1 in conference play.


Christian Akers led the Vikings with three goals. Maxwell Smerka scored once and had two assists. Berry held a 12-10 lead after Akers recorded his team’s last goal.


The Colonels, however, rallied and netted two goals in the last 1:49 to force the extra period. Gray had three goals in the game.


Centre led in shots (39-35), ground balls (29-27) and faceoffs (16-13).


Berry plays at Piedmont College on Tuesday afternoon.
