Tallapoosa Dogwood festival returning in April

One of the area’s oldest traditions, the 30th Annual Tallapoosa Dogwood Festival, is expected to attract a record number of visitors at the two day event, April 10-11, and especially invites all from points near and far.


The Beauty Pageant will start the festival on Friday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the Civic Auditorium at Highway 100 and Taliaferro Street. The Tallapoosa Lions Club Dogwood Dash 5K Walk-Run will start activities on April 11 at 8 a.m., followed by a full day of music, dancers, arts and crafts, children’s activities, Indian culture, horse carriage rides, a parade and exotic foods, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Head Avenue.


All events are open to the public and there is no charge for admission to the family oriented festival, sponsored by the Tallapoosa Historical Society and Pioneer Ford of Bremen.


Tallapoosa is located 5 miles from the Alabama-Georgia state line and may be reached from U.S. Highway 78, Interstate 20 at exit 5, going north on Ga Highway 100 for 4 miles to the Highway 78/Head Avenue intersection.
