Two men facing charges in connection with convenience store and restaurant robberies were indicted Friday by a Floyd County grand jury, Superior Court records state.
Both Victor Leonard King Jr., 22, of 14 Worsham St., and Eric Stocks, 26, of 24 Torrent Court, Cedartown, both face one count of armed robbery and two counts of aggravated assault. King faces additional counts of possession of an offensive weapon during a
crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and pointing a gun at another, records state. King and Stocks remained Friday in the Floyd and Polk County jails, respectively.
According to court and police records:
Police accused both men of the Jan. 6 robbery of the Kangaroo convenience store, 3129 Maple Road. King faces additional accusations that he robbed Waffle House, 1601 Shorter Ave., less than an hour after the first robbery. Officers initially said four men, including one with a handgun, entered the Kangaroo at 4:47 a.m. Jan. 6 and took more than $100 and a box of cigarettes. Three men with guns entered Waffle House at 5:34 a.m. that day and demanded money, police reported. The group escaped with more than $300.
King and Stocks were arrested days later.
The grand jury also indicted Walter Carthell Reed, 61, of 13 E. Center Road, on charges of child molestation, burglary, second-degree child cruelty, public indecency, public drunk and simple battery.
Authorities accuse Reed of walking down Atkins Road naked in early December. He then tried to get inside a home and was seen by a child. Reed, who made lewd comments, was pushed outside by a resident.
