Ms. Croker


Ms. Patsy Nicholson Croker, 72, of Cedartown, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015.


She was born on Oct. 5, 1942 to the late Rabon and Virginia Holtzclaw Nicholson.


She is survived by her daughter, Paige Haney (Richie); son, Robert L. Stephens IV; sisters, Joan Cormack, Linda Posey: step daughters, Kelly Faires (Chip), Denise Croker (Terri Barton); sister–in-law, Corene Croker Hatch; 6 grandchildren, Kristen Faires, Josh Faires, Catlyn Mullinax, Britt Haney, Jack Haney, Lorena Pelico; and 2 great grandchildren, Kenzlyn Thomas and Cash Currie.


She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Croker; her parents; a brother, Jerry Nicholson; and a step daughter, Debra Croker Mullinax.


The funeral service for Ms. Patsy Nicholson Croker were held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Cedartown at 5 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating. Interment followed the service in the Northview Cemetery.


Ms. Croker’s body lied in state and family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 prior to the funeral hour.


Jack Haney, Britt Haney, Chip Faires, Josh Faires, Jeff Haney, and Jerry Haney served as pallbearers.


The family has requested that flowers be omitted and any donations may be made to the Alzeheimer’s Association, Georgia Chapter, 922 East Morris Street, Dalton, Ga., 30721.

Mr. Adams


Mr. Hubert Edward Adams, age 85, of Cedartown, passed away on Thursday morning, March 5, 2015 following a sudden illness.


Mr. Adams was born on Oct. 22, 1929 in Cedartown, to his parents the late Frank and Ailene Beckum Adams.


He was a veteran, proudly serving with the United States Army and Air Force and was assigned to the 187th Airborne Division as a Paratrooper during the World War II and pre Korean War Era.


He was retired from the U.S. Can Corporation, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.


In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Susan Hardeman.


He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Geraldine Woody Adams; his daughter, Pamela Hopkins; his step son, Terry Hobbs; his step daughters, Glenda Rice and Brenda McGee; his brother, Phillip Adams;


A number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other relatives also survive.


Funeral services for Mr. Hubert Edward Adams were conducted on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Hulsey officiating.


Interment followed in the Northview Cemetery with full military honors being conducted by the Brewster-Cleveland Post 86 Honor Guard.


The family received friends on Friday evening, March 6, 2015, at the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home.

Mr. Holland


Mr. Michael “Mike” Anthony Holland, age 66 of Rockmart, Georgia passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015.


Mr. Holland was born on Feb. 5, 1949 in Cedartown, Georgia, son of the late Kennon Lee Holland and the late Sarah Gladys Dodd Holland.


He was a member of the Springdale Baptist Church. Mike had a great love for his church, family and gospel music. He will be best remembered as the “timekeeper” for starting church on time and for his testimonies every Wednesday night. Mike loved to watch TV, especially the news, weather and Jeopardy.


Survivors included a sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Joe Camp of Rockmart; four nieces, Leslie Hawkins, Leann Tenney, Linda Mallette and Lisa Coffman who was also a special caregiver; great-nieces and nephews also survived.


Funeral services for Mr. Holland were held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the Springdale Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby McDowell officiating.


Interment services followed in the church cemetery.


The Deacons of Springdale Baptist Church served as pallbearers: Mark Hardigree, Donald Davidson, Darrell Smith, Dan Dooley, Lamar Smith, Ben Vaughn, Eddie Tant and Junior Fennell.


Honorary pallbearer was L. C. Mullins.

Ms. Arp


Lisa Ann Arp, age 51, of Elgin, S.C. formerly of Aragon, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at her residence.


She was born on Aug. 14, 1963 to Mr. Robert Buchanan “RB” Arp Jr., and Patricia Ann Arp.


She was a 1981 graduate of Rockmart High School in Rockmart. Lisa and her life partner Christine Arehart enjoyed fishing and bowling together.


Lisa was also gifted with engines and enjoyed mechanical work (including tinkering with several of her daddy’s lawn mowers, unbeknownst to him). She was friendly and outgoing, which made her a well-liked trainer at many jobs over the years. She was able to relate to anyone she met, and made people feel comfortable.


Lisa was most proud of her family and her hometown of Aragon.


She was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Robert Buchanan “RB” Arp, Jr., of Aragon.


She is survived by her life partner, Christine Arehart; her son, Gage Anndrew Arp and his wife Andrea Trudewind Arp of Douglasville; her mother, Patricia Ann Arp and sister LaDonna Arp, both of Aragon; her brother Robert Trey Arp and his wife Kristen Carson Arp and their children Wesley and Stella, of Loganville.


A memorial service was held for Lisa at the Arp Family Farm, located on Yarborough Road, Aragon on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at 2 p.m.


A second memorial will be held in the Elgin, South Carolina area at a later date.

Mr. Brown


Mr. Curtis Matthew Brown, age 67, of Cedartown passed away Monday, March 2, 2015.


Mr. Brown was born in Rome on March 5, 1947, the son of the late Matthew Clark Brown and the late Tretha Elder.


Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Marie McCraw Brown of Cedartown; two daughters, Sheree Coloski of Cedartown and Tammie Wolfe of Rockmart; one sister, Becky Marks of Tallapoosa; one brother, Greg Piccione of Tallapoosa; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.


A celebration of Mr. Brown’s life was held on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 12 p.m. at the family’s residence in Cedartown.

Mrs. Statham


Mrs. Margaret Mitchell Statham, age 83 of Rockmart, Georgia passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015.


Mrs. Statham was born on May 2, 1931 in Gadsden, Alabama, daughter of the late Otis Mitchell and the late Annie Barber Mitchell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Second Baptist Church of Rockmart where she loved to sing in the choir. She also enjoyed volunteering with the Red Cross Blood Mobile. Mrs. Statham was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Billy Statham on May 15, 1985; and a grandson, Mr. Seth Hitchcock on October 31, 2006.


Survivors included a daughter, Patricia Childers of Rockmart; three sons and daughters-in-law, Phil and Loye Statham of Rockmart, Mickey and Jerri Statham of Peachtree City and Al and Kris Statham of Aragon; nine grandchildren, Ray Sullivan, Chan Statham, Ashley Meeks, Amanda Audette, Allie Houle, Hannah Statham, Halie Akins, Erin Hitchcock and Caelen Childers; six great-grandchildren also survived.


Funeral services for Mrs. Statham were held on Tuesday, March 3rd at 2:00 p.m. in the Second Baptist Church with Rev. David Warriner officiating. A eulogy was given by her granddaughter, Mrs. Halie Akins. Interment services followed in the family lot of Rockmart Memorial Gardens.


The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Frank Statham, Jr., Mike Statham, Eddie Statham, Steve Smith, Mark Statham and Chan Statham


Honorary pallbearers were: L. C. Mullins and Ray Sullivan.

Mr. Kinney


Mr. Charles William Kinney, Jr. age 67 of Cedartown, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015.


Mr. Kinney was born on July 8, 1947 in Rockmart, son of the late Charles William Kinney Sr., and the late Rebecca Ferguson Kinney.


He was a member of the Rockmart First United Methodist Church.


Mr. Kinney was a graduate of Rockmart High School and also a graduate of both Floyd Junior College and the University of Oklahoma.


He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp having served during the Vietnam War. Mr. Kinney was a 50-year member of the Rockmart Masonic Lodge #97 F&AM and was a member of the Yaarab Shrine Temple.


Charles devoted his life to public service.


During the first part of his career he was a member and chairman of the Polk County Board of Commissioners. He also served on various committees and boards throughout Northwest Georgia.


For 30 years he served as city or county manager in the following locations: Summerville, Ga., and Elbert and Turner Counties.


Additionally, he served as Executive Director for Economic Development for Haralson and Paulding Counties.


Mr. Kinney loved his family and serving others. City, county and state government defined his life.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Bonnie Kathleen Logan Kinney on Sept. 21, 2011; and a sister, Mrs. Ann Kinney Clemons.


Survivors included a son and daughter-in-law, Thad and Sheila Kinney of Cedartown and their son, Rhett; and a brother, Michael “Lou” Kinney of Rockmart.


Funeral services for Mr. Kinney were held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 6 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Frasier officiating. A eulogy was given by Mrs. Julie Cummings Moss.


Military rites were provided by the Brown-Wright American Legion Post #12 Honor Guard.


The following gentlemen served as honorary pallbearers: Lee Cummings, Tommy Cummings, David Cummings, Chris Lester, Jimmy Lester and Larry Pittman.

Mr. Trussell


Mr. Ted Laurence Trussell, age 54 of Cedartown, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015.


He was born on Nov. 20, 1960 in Methune, Mass., to the late Mr. Theodore “Buddy” Trussell and Mrs. Kathleen “Kay” Cavanaugh Trussell.


Mr. Trussell is survived by his son, Jessie Shane Trussell; sister, Patricia Trussell Caron; brother, William R. Trussell; and 3 grandchildren Kyla Nicole Trussell, Chance Matthew Trussell, and Zac Lawrence Trussell.


Mr. Trussell is preceded in death by his wife, Ella Jo Lee Walker; parents; sister, Rosemary Trussell Defeo; brothers, Robert J. Trussell, Charles E. Trussell, and Michael P. Trussell.


In keeping with Mr. Trussell’s wishes he was cremated.


A memorial service for Mr. Trussell was held on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home.

Mr. Tillmann


Mr. Robert Roy Tillmann, age 72, of Cedartown, passed away on Friday, Feb. 20, 2015 following a brief illness.


Mr. Tillmann was born on Nov. 17, 1942 in Arcadia, Wisc., the son of the late Alvin and Cleo Hohmann Tillmann.


Mr. Tillmann was retired from the Hon Corporation following a lengthy career. He was a veteran, proudly serving with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the Pine Bower Baptist Church.


In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Tillmann.


He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Mrs. Faye Blackmon Tillmann; his children abd grandchildren who he adored, Stephanie and Jayda Sewell, Wayne, Lynn and Ava Tillmann, Amy, C.J. Norris and Timberly Johnson, John “Ratt” Tillmann and Glenda McKibben, Austin and Jesy Tillmann and Dawn, Bill and Ben Truett; his sister, Sharon Bossler; his brothers, Danny Tillmann and Lenny Tillmann; nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.


In accordance with Mr. Tillmann’s wishes he will be cremated and a memorial service was conducted on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 22, 2015 at 2 p.m. from the Pine Bower Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Kiser and Rev. Joe Bates officiating. Interment followed in the Pine Bower Cemetery.


The family received friends on Saturday evening, Feb. 21, 2015 at the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home.

Mr. Doeg


Mr. Donnie Alan Doeg, age 53, of Cedartown, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2015.


Mr. Doeg was born on June 14, 1961 in Cedartown, to his parents, Alan Doeg and Betty Wills Doeg.


Prior to his illness, he was associated with the E.A. Benefield Construction Company. Donnie enjoyed NASCAR Racing and was a huge fan.


He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and enjoyed Crappy fishing. He greatly loved and cherished his family and friends.


He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rita N. Doeg; his mother, Betty Dickinson; his father and step-mother, Alan and Juanita Doeg; his brothers and sisters in law, Stan and Chasta Doeg and Jimmy and Cindy Queen; his sister, Darice Cheatwood; Uncles and Aunt Bobby and Lynn Doeg and Harold Wills, his nieces and nephews, Tyler Cheatwood, Rheana Cheatwood, Bo Doeg, Nikki Doeg, Jodie Warmack , Janelle Sady and Joy Queen Owens.


Funeral services for Mr. Donnie Alan Doeg were conducted on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 17, 2015 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Russell officiating.


Interment followed in the Antioch Cemetery.


The family received friends on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015 prior to the funeral hour at the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home.


The following served as pallbearers: Tyler Cheatwood, Brandon Wills, Pat Casey, Jimmy Queen, Scottie Streetman, Stan Doeg and Steve Kelly.


Honorary Pallbearers included: Phillip Height, Randy Hulsey, Gerold Smith and Phillip Irwin.
