Tennis: Vikings take down Wittenberg, 8-1

The Berry College men’s tennis team opened up spring break play with a convincing 8-1 over Wittenberg on Monday afternoon.


The Vikings — which only lost at No. 1 singles — moved to 2-0 on the season. Wittenberg dropped to 2-1. Berry plays Monmouth and Moravian today.


At singles: 1. Alexey Topolyanskiy (Wittenberg) def. Inigo Flores (Berry) 6-4, 6-4


2. Logan Yerbey (Berry) def. JiaLang Woo (Wittenberg) 6-0, 6-0;


3. Chase Gooding (Berry) def. Dennis Gleason (Wittenberg) 6-1, 6-3;


4. Michael Tucker (Berry) def. Akbar Tiwana (Wittenberg) 6-0, 6-1;


5. Daniel Alligood (Berry) def. Stefan Thornberry (Wittenberg) 6-0, 6-2;


6. Jacob Belcher (Berry) def. Seth Quay (Wittenberg) 6-0, 6-0


At doubles: 1. Inigo Flores/Logan Yerbey (Berry) def. Alexey Topolyanskiy/Akbar Tiwana (Wittenberg) 8-3;
