Threat of mudslides closes road in Walker County

The Latest Local News from the Cedartown Standard

The threat of a possible mudslide prompted Walker County officials to close off portions of Nick-A-Jack Road late Tuesday.

Crews were on the scene addressing the situation as of Tuesday at 9 p.m.

The road is closed from Powder Springs Circle to the top of Lookout Mountain.

Nick-A-Jack Road is the connector between Ga. Highway 193, up Lookout Mountain, to Ga. Highway 157.

The wet conditions over the last several weeks have saturated the ground to the point that a mudslide has become a possibility.

This area will remain closed until further noticed.
