Lacrosse: Berry drops first game to Augustana, 13-10

Christian Akers and Cory Hall scored three goals apiece, but the Berry College men’s lacrosse team dropped its first game of the season Thursday to Augustana College, 13-10.


The loss dropped the Vikings to 3-1. The win improved Augustana to 2-2.


For Augustana, Jared Hawkins scored five goals and dished out three assists in the win.


Although Augustana held a 7-3 halftime lead, the Vikings outscored the visiting team, 7-6, in the second half.


Paolo Falzi, Grant Phillips, Patrick Towner and Matt Bentley each added a goal.


Duncan Tilka started the game in the goal and took the loss. He made a save and allowed six goals. Nick Voso then went in as goalkeeper and made three saves.


Augustana led in ground balls (45-29), but the Vikings had the edge in shots (29-28) and face-offs (18-7).


Berry will take on Colorado College in its next game in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on Sunday.
