Warrants: Man used stepdad’s ID to purchase items on eBay

A man accused of using his stepfather’s identity to buy items on eBay remained in jail Monday night without bond, Floyd County Jail reports state.


According to jail records:


David Maxwell Burns, 64, of 122 Old Freeman Ferry Road, is charged with identity fraud and cruelty to a person 65 years or older.


Burns used his stepfather’s Social Security number and date of birth in February 2014 to create a credit line with PayPal, an online money transfer service. Burns used the credit line to buy $1,071.21 worth of items on eBay, an online auction website.


Authorities arrested Burns on Monday.
