Cedartown Humane Society to partner with Posey’s Pet Shelter for spay-neuter program

The Latest Local News from the Cedartown Standard

The Cedartown Humane Society is partnering with a local private pet shelter to make it more affordable for Polk County residents to get their pets spayed or neutered. The partnership will enhance the humane society’s existing low or no-cost program.

Cedartown Humane Society president Charlotte Harrison said that since October 2014, the organization has spent more than $4,000 to spay and neuter pets. By partnering with Posey’s, they can make their services even more accessible for residents.

“For several years, Gail Posey has addressed this problem by providing a service of transporting pets from Polk County to a low-cost spay and neuter clinic in Villa Rica. The Cedartown Humane Society will supplement this activity by advertising the program, and funding part or all of the costs for families that are unable to afford even these reduced fees,” Harrison said.

Harrison said she spoke to fourth and fifth graders at Eastside Elementary on April 15 to promote pet safety.

The Cedartown Humane Society will be at the Cedar Valley Arts Festival Saturday and Sunday promoting the low- or no-cost spay and neuter program during the two day festival. On Sunday, Harrison will emcee the annual pet competition sponsored by the Cedartown Junior Service League at 2 p.m.
