Rome Braves Recap: Rome takes down Augusta

Final: Rome 6, Augusta 3


How it happened: After tying Augusta 2-2 in the sixth, Rome scored four runs off five hits in the eighth inning to give the Braves a four-run cushion and a lead they never relinquished.


Who did what for Rome: Joseph Daris, Ozhaino Albies, Keith Curcio and Jordan Edgerton all hit singles and Wigberto Nevarez hit a double to score four runs for the Braves in the pivotal eighth inning. Daris scored earlier in the third and Albies scored the tying run in the sixth.


On the mound: Sean Furney (1-0) earned the win in relief for the Braves. Furney pitched 4 2-3 innings, struck out one and allowed two hits and one earned one.


Jorge Zavala earned his second save of the year in 1 2-3 innings. Ricardo Sanchez pitched the first 2 2-3 innings, striking out two and allowing two earned runs.


Next Game: The Braves continue their four-game series against the GreenJackets this afternoon at 7:05 p.m.
