Jefferson’s coming to Cedartown in Portabello’s on North Main

The Latest Local News from the Cedartown Standard

“Peace, Love and Wings,” Jefferson’s Cedartown. Has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?

The Jefferson’s Cedartown Facebook page went up Friday and 24 hours later had 1,777 likes and counting.

The popular chain known for its casual and upbeat atmosphere, as well as its menu featuring wings, burgers and beer, announced last week it will open its 21st franchise at 901 N. Main St. in the building formerly occupied by Portobello’s, which closed April 6.

Job applications will be posted online “soon” according to their Facebook page, and the restaurant is aiming for a July 1 opening.

The first Jefferson’s opened in Jacksonville, Alabama, in 1991. Jeff (Jefferson) Webb had just graduated from Jacksonville State and saw a need for a casual, local hangout in the college town.

The 20 locations are spread around the county, and include restaurants in Kansas, Illinois, Alabama, and Georgia.

The operators of the Cedartown location have applied for permits to sell alcohol.

Calls to Jefferson’s corporate office in Franklin, Tennessee, were not returned by press time Monday.
