Coroner: Body found in woods that of missing woman

The Latest Local News from the Rome News

Floyd County Coroner Barry Henderson released the following statement today in the case of the human remains found near Kingston Highway last month.

“My office was notified today, April 25, 2015, shortly after Noon by Dr. Sandra Thomas, MD, Associate Medical Examiner, GBI Division of Forensic Science, that the body that was found on March 27, 2015, off Everwood Court in Floyd County, is that of Ashley Nycole Jones.

Identification was facilitated by dental records obtained from a local oral and facial surgery practice upon information given to this office by her family.

The cause and manner of death are still pending the results of toxicological and histological testing.”

The 24-year-old mother of three went missing Feb. 5 at a Canard Road address, off Kingston Highway.

The remains were found some 200 yards off Everwood Court — walking distance from where Jones was seen last.
