Shorter women's basketball adds two for 2015-16

Kayla Tillie and Raven Fair signed thier National Letters of Intent to play for the Lady Hawks this week. The two will add depth and versatility at the guard positions with hopes of providing an instant impact to the team in 2015-16.


“We are very excited that both Kayla and Raven have decided to attend Shorter University and be a part of our program,” head coach Vic Mitchell said. “They are both very versatile players, who are capable of playing multiple positions, and we are excited about the intensity and toughness each of them will bring.”


Tillie, a native of Maryville, Tennessee, finishes her career at Maryville High School with 1,409 points and 422 assists; while shooting 34 percent from 3-point range. Tillie was named 4-AAA All-District four times and 2-AAA three times in her career. As well as, being named 2014 4-AAA MVP and a two time All-Prep Xtra 1st team selection.


Fair, a standout at Union City High School in Union City, Tennessee, comes off an impressive senior season. In 33 games for the Golden Tornados, Fair averaged 26.5 ppg, 8.5 rebounds, 3.8 steals, and 3 assists while shooting 41 percent from the field and 37 percent from 3-point range.


“Besides being very good players, Kayla and Raven are high character young ladies who will continue to grow academically, athletically, and spiritually over the next four years at Shorter,” Mitchell adds.


“We cannot wait for them to join us in the fall and help us as we continue to build toward winning the Gulf South Conference Championship.”
