Monday’s Roman will highlight big Record eal estate deals; Small Business Snapshot focuses on firm that helps veterans

The Latest Local News from the Rome News

Monday’s edition of the Roman Record includes details of a blockbuster real estate deal in North Rome valued at just under $1 million. The deal, which can be found in the real estate transfers section, involves a parcel on Waddell Street, just a few blocks from the soon-to-be-under-construction Joe Wright Village gated public housing community.

A parcel at the corner of Leon Street and Shorter Avenue was also sold last week in a deal valued at $265,000. The real estate transfers section of the weekly Roman Record also has information regarding at least eight residential deals valued at more than $100,000.

The Small Business Snapshot is of Collin Douglas, owner of Veterans Rating Consultants, 700 E. Second Ave. Douglas worked with the Veterans Administration for two decades before deciding to go out and personally advocate for America’s service veterans.

Douglas says that, as a veteran, he fully understands the trials they often have to go through to avail themselves of all the benefits they are due. He brought the business to Rome to assist his fellow vets.

The building permits section of Monday’s Roman Record highlights the fact that Vantage Development has pulled permits for the start of a major renovation of the Willingham Village.

The Northwest Georgia Housing Authority, which is partnering with Vantage in the project, got permits for almost 40 properties in the public housing community, which is being converted to Section 8 housing choice voucher homes. The NWGHA permits list a value of $39,000 for the renovations at each property.

The Word on the Street column has information related to a new business in Rome. CME Solutions is owned by Chuck Evans, who is a specialist in helping small businesses grow.

The column also features new economic impact data from the Little River Canyon National Preserve, plans for a Historic Preservation Month celebration May 5 in Bailey Park at the base of Rome’s famous Clock Tower and a special event for veterans on Tuesday at the Riverwood Retirement Life Community.
