Dr. Caleb Landrum Joins The Eye Center in Rockmart

The Latest Local News from the Cedartown Standard

Dr. Caleb Landrum has joined Dr. Bruce Bell in optometric practice at The Eye Center of Rockmart.

Landrum is a 2006 graduate of Rockmart High School, and a summa cum laude graduate from Shorter College with double majors in Biology and Chemistry. He then went on to the University of Alabama (UAB) School of Optometry, where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree.

While at Shorter, he was vice-president of Tri-Beta Biological Honor Society and Alpha Chi National Honor Society. He was also a member of the American Chemical Society and Allied Health Club.

Landrum graduated with honors in 2014 from UAB. While attending school there, he was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society and American Optometric Student Association.

He was also selected as a tutor for underclassmen.

Landrum completed internships at the Alabama Vision Center, Vestavia Eye Care and Birmingham Veterans Administration. He was a participant in the UAB Community Eye Care program providing eye care to Headstart programs, schools and senior centers.

His main focus of study in his internships included work in contact lenses, ocular disease and pediatrics.

“I wanted to return to my home to give back to the community that has given me so much,” Landrum said. “I have been working with Dr. Bell for several months while we made sure our partnership was a good fit.”

Landrum said part of his motivation in returning back to Polk County was to bring his experience from UAB to residents in the area, helping them to better see.

“I hope to bring some new technologies, especially in contact lenses, that have not been available in Polk County,” Landrum said.

Bell also expresses his excitement to have Landrum join the practice and stated in a press release, “Even though I am still seeing patients in Rockmart, Dr. Landrum is bringing new ideas to the practice.”

Landrum is the son of John Van and Sharon Landrum of Cedartown. He has a sister, Savanna.

The family moved to Polk County from Tate, Georgia, in 1995.
