College Lacrosse: Berry men beat Centre and advances to SAA finals

Jake Emche tallied 3 goals and dished 3 assists as Berry College defeated Centre, 12-10, on Friday night in a Southern Athletic Association semifinal match.

The Vikings improved to 12-4. The Colonels dropped to 9-5.

BC jumped out a 4-0 lead and held a 7-4 edge at halftime. Centre, however, rallied and tied the game at 7-7 in third quarter, and again at 9-9 in the final period.

Cory Hall added 3 goals and one helper. Quentin Johnson added 2 goals and 2 assists and Christian Akers scored twice for the Vikes.

Both teams had 41 shots in the contest. Berry led in ground balls (26-22) and faceoffs (13-12).

For Centre, Seth Gray had 2 goals and 3 assists.

Nick Voso recorded 8 saves in goal for Berry.

BC will face host Sewanee on Sunday in the SAA Championship game. Game time is 2 p.m.
