Former Floyd County schools employee Derry Richardson, who resigned the same day officials revealed a criminal investigation into misuse of funds at the system, knew authorities would seize his property when he withdrew $30,000 from a Summerville bank, court records state.

Richardson, whose 241 Riverbluff Drive property was seized Tuesday, took the money at 12:59 p.m. that day from United Community Bank in Summerville, Floyd County Superior Court records state.

The attorney appointed as the receiver of the seized property filed a motion Wednesday asking Chief Judge Walter Matthews to compel Richardson to hand over the $30,000. A hearing is scheduled for April 28.
