Murder investigation continues; McKinney transferred to Etowah County

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, inmate Terry Lee McKinney, who is being held on a murder charge, has been transferred to a larger facility better equipped to accommodate his special needs. McKinney was transferred on Saturday, April 4, to the Etowah County Detention Facility.


Also on Saturday, a Federal Bureau of Investigation K9 team arrived from Quantico, Va., to aid in the search for evidence along Alabama Highway 273 and County Road 47. Members of the Tucker’s Chapel Volunteer Fire Department assisted officers from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and the Major Crimes Task Force as the investigation continues, Shaver said.
