Blue Water in Rockmart ready to help with summer tan

Blue Water Tanning and Boutique is now open for business at 208 South Marble Street in Rockmart.

Owner Dondra Smith and Manager Sharon Carnes are on site to welcome hometown folks and out of town visitors.

“We encourage everyone to come downtown and enjoy a chat and a warm Southern welcome,” said Smith. “I value customer service and enjoy meeting people.”

Smith, a native of Rockmart, gained a background in retail business as a child. Her parents, Roland and Doress Robinson were storeowners.

Roland owned and operated a country hardware store and his wife operated a beauty shop. Their daughter describes the couple as great role models.

Both had a wonderful work ethic, according to Smith. She said they never complained about long hours and meeting the demands of a growing business.

“I assumed operation of the hardware store after the death of my father in 2009,” Smith said. “However, I am closing it due to a decreasing demand for this type of business. And, I wanted to fulfill my own dream of owning the type of shop that appeals to me.”

Therefore, she selected the building adjoining the hardware store. Once her decision was made, the 550 square feet of showroom space was cleared for cleaning and merchandise.

Featured is an array of ladies apparel and jewelry plus a good selection of clothes for children, newborn to size 14. There is also an area with all season balloons. A tanning bed and spray tanning is available.

Smith, who works part time at Floyd Medical, also accepts quality designer items on consignment. Individuals interested in this opportunity are asked to call her at 678-988-3950.

Blue Water Tanning and Boutique is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
