NWS: Pea-sized hail, damaging winds possible as storms roll through Floyd County

The Latest Local News from the Rome News



There is a chance of pea-sized hail and damaging winds as storms roll through Floyd County this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service . Severe storms are possible and there is a 60 percent chance of showers this evening with today’s high expected near 77.


Tonight showers and thunderstorms are likely before 2 a.m., then a slight chance of showers between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Friday A slight chance of showers between 9am and 3pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 80. Light south wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.


Friday Night A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49. Southwest wind around 10 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.


Saturday Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 9am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 62. North wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Saturday Night Clear, with a low around 38.
